Asbestos Death

Asbestos death has been highly under rated. In the UK, twice as many people die from exposure to asbestos than die in auto accidents. In the US there were 18,068 deaths from malignant mesothelioma between 1999 and 2005. Estimates are that by the end of the first half of the 21st Century, 180,000 will have died from the asbestos related cancer, Mesothelioma. The risk is not only to those who work in construction but can also be to those exposed to the asbestos when a building containing the fiber is torn down. When a building that has asbestos is torn down, millions of these tiny asbestos fibers fly through the air and they can travel for miles. Anyone unlucky enough to breathe enough of that in is at risk for Mesothelioma. Asbestos deaths continue to rise as researchers scramble to find a drug that can slow down or even eliminate the effects of Mesothelioma. The alarming fact is that many of the mesothelioma cases are not diagnosed for 40 years, There is a glimmer of good news, however, as a cholesterol drug has some early promising effects on Mesothelioma. The studies are being continued but early studies are very promising.
