Asbestos Exposure Cancer

There are many different forms of asbestos exposure cancer. The most commonly referenced asbestos exposure cancer is mesothelioma, however this is still relatively rare compared to other asbestos related cancers. Mesothelioma is a cancer than forms in the lining of the lungs and body organs due to the sharp shards of airborne asbestos entering into the lungs when the individual breathes. These sharp needles stick into the lining of the lungs and airways, creating irritation and cancerous cells that may spread very rapidly and aggressively to other body organs. Other types of cancers caused by asbestos exposure in include both small and non-small cell lung cancer, both which can occur, like mesothelioma, years after the exposure occurred. Gastrointestinal cancer can occur from exposure or ingestion of asbestos particles, as can colorectal cancers. Gallbladder, prostate, breast, ovarian, mouth and throat cancers have also been linked to asbestos exposure but may be more difficult to prove in lawsuits.
