Asbestos lung related diseases include asbestosis, which is the process of widespread scarring that occurs in the lungs, disease of the lining of the lungs, which is also called pleura, and lung cancer, when the internal portions of the lungs as well as/or the outer lining of the lung is has cancerous formations. Any of these conditions may be caused by the most commonly available forms of asbestos in the United States, and asbestos lung diseases that are not cancerous have also been linked to asbestos. Most cases of asbestos exposure have occurred as a result of the individual working in mills, mines, and factories, though many people also have developed the condition as a result of living in and working with materials in homes that are asbestos.
