Remove Asbestos

To remove asbestos, very specialized procedures must be used. Although working with asbestos in a factory or mining setting is considered one of the highest risks for developing asbestos related illnesses, a small amount of inhaled asbestos dust from the removal of this material from a building can be just as harmful to the individual. Specialized companies use testing kits and very standardized procedures to remove any asbestos material that has been found in the facility. Those buildings that have asbestos in them may be required to have an asbestos management plan, which is often required by the state's health department. This plan helps to protect those who come in contact with the asbestos material either through construction or direct contact.

Fast Facts

  • It is estimated that some 6000 companies worldwide used asbestos materials throughout the 1900's knowing of the risks associated with using it and doing nothing about it to protect their employees.
